Hi, I'm Tommy Marquardt! I am currently a junior at Syracuse University, majoring in public relations in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. In addition, I am working on a minor in political science in SU's College of Arts and Sciences.
I grew up in Glenview, IL, which is a suburb just outside of Chicago, and attended Glenbrook South High School. There, I was heavily involved in the award-winning radio station and newspaper as a Sports Director and Sports Editor respectively.
Growing up, I fell in love with sports from watching the Chicago Bears every Sunday and listening to Chicago Cubs radio broadcasts in my dad's car. Since then, I've developed a passion for sports and the sports industry, honing an expertise across numerous college and professional sports. I am always enthusiastic to learn and look forward to gaining more and more knowledge about sports and the industry behind them.
At Syracuse, I have been taught many communications skills across multiple disciplines, partially due to blending the curriculum of my former major of broadcast and digital journalism and my current major of public relations. I have received a premier education in numerous topics such as public relations, graphic design, photography, video editing, advertising basics, and all different types of writing.
I am eager to gain professional experience and embark into the professional world, and am excited to collaborate and grow in the communications industry. I try to keep a positive attitude and thrive in group settings, which I believe will aid me greatly upon entering the communications workforce. My resume and a selection of my work is featured on this website. I am available for contact on LinkedIn, or at my email address: tommy.marquardt19@gmail.com. Thanks for visiting!
